New England Dessert Showcase

Not that TFAW need a reason to reunite…but, dessert usually does the trick. Earlier this month, we joined forces in Boston for the first time in a while and attended the New England Dessert Showcase.

We picked up our gratis passes for the media/press VIP hour at 10:30 a.m., which to most may seem like an insanely early time to start eating desserts. Not the case for us. Desserts looped around the room and we sampled well, pretty much everything there was to offer. Since it was breakfast time, we started with a bite of waffle from Zinneken’s.

We’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking.

Chocolate Therapy – that’s our motto too…

Boston Baking Inc

Golden Cannoli Shells, Inc

Konditer Meister

Finale

Fratelli’s

Chart House

TFAW at the end – totally stuffed! And ready for lunch…

In the span of just an hour, we each consumed about 5 cookies/brownies, 3 chocolates/candies, 2 (small) pieces of cake, and one massive molten chocolate brownie sundae (don’t worry, we split that).

A-Tooch’s favorite was the Dark Chocolate Decadence from Finale Desserterie & Bakery — fudgy and dense with a hint of coffee. The Finale rep who served it made sure to tell me it was gluten free. Whatever. All I could think was “chocolate, chocolate, chocolate in my face.” Amazing.

Miss Yunks’ favorite was the molten chocolate cake from Chart House. The hot individual sized cakes would have impressed me alone; molten cake topped with a perfect scoop of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and Heath Bar crunch made me want to go back for more.

We had a great time savoring desserts from known favorite bakeries and new-to-us bakeries, restaurants and wholesale vendors.

To curb our intense sugar headaches, we headed to Five Napkin Burger for lunch :)

What’s the best dessert you’ve had lately?
