Pre-vegetarian days, I really liked hot dogs. Today, I really like Smart Dogs. They’re a tasty meat-free hot dog alternative that I’ve seen meat eaters enjoy as well. And if meat eaters can enjoy pigs in a blanket, then so can I.
I’d never bought crescent rolls in a can and to be honest, I was both excited and weirded out by them. Bread in a can? That’s a little bizarre. But a quick, easy, somewhat nutritious weekday dinner? I can always use one of those. I opted for the store brand rolls because they were half the fat of the name brand and the rolls looked small; I knew I’d eat two. I didn’t know I’d eat four – but that’s a different story.
I didn’t even know what to do with this spiral of dough. I unrolled the crescent dough and layed out four triangles. In two triangles, I rolled soy dogs. I rolled two crescent rolls alone.
See how small the crescents are? My dogs are too big. But with a side of my favorite mustard, it worked. Of course, I could’ve used a regular hot dog bun to cover my dogs, but the crescent roll was more fun. I finally discovered a way to make my delicious soy dogs more fun. I added a side of my favorite baked beans and had a protein-heavy meal!

I love smart dogs and tofu pups. I’ve been a veggie since 1/1/1997 because meat made me literally sick.
