Dessert for Brunch
After a pretty uneventful weekend in Rhode Island (and lots of chowder + seafood) A-Tooch returned to NYC to do what people do best here, eat brunch.
The fact alone that the name is breakfast/lunch combined shows how confusing this meal can be. Though most fellow brunch-ers seem to opt for breakfast, I am always battling the choice of breakfast or lunch food. Sweet or salty? Here’s a novel idea: pretend that brunch is dinner and have DESSERT afterwards.
Apparently I wasn’t the only one who thought this was a great concept because the desserts were pouring out of the kitchen on Sunday afternoon at Banc Cafe in Murray Hill (www.banccafe.com). After wondering why I was seeing so much sorbet and chocolate cake being served at 2pm, I decided to follow suit and order a little (er, not so little) something myself.
This colorful dish was called the Passionfruit Bavarian. It looks much better than it really was but hey, that didn’t stop me from eating almost all of it. My friend got the Crème Brûlée which she managed to finish as well. Two thumbs up for the selection of desserts at Banc, one thumb up for the taste.
