Sibling Rivalry is a “competition between siblings especially for the attention, affection, and approval of their parents” according to Webster’s Dictionary. I can think of several families I know where I witnessed sibling rivalry between the children. One child was better about adhering to bed time, earned better grades, wanted more money, a later curfew, got into a better college, or grabbed the last dinner roll. Is it weird I never had dinner rolls at home? I also didn’t have much sibling rivalry with my sister. Perhaps because we’re four and half years apart, or perhaps because we’re both (usually) delightful people, we just get along. And we always have. Yes, I was the occasionally annoying little sister that wanted to copy everything my big sister did. But she got over the fact that we had matching fluorescent jackets, a symptom of growing up in the 80s, and a gum ball of my choice was enough to get me out of her room when I wasn’t wanted.
A-Tooch has no siblings, but if she did, there would certainly be rivalry over food.
In Boston, sibling rivalry is more than a little competition between siblings. Sibling Rivalry is a modern American restaurant in Boston’s South End run by two brothers, Chefs David and Bob Kinkead. Bob’s culinary talents inspired David. They had their separate experiences working in other chef’s restaurants and opened Sibling Rivalry together to prepare food their way. They feature seasonal ingredients and each chef interprets it differently. In the mood for curry? Chose between Chef David’s Moroccan style lamb or Chef Bob’s steamed Prince Edward Island Mussels. How about pasta? Chose between Chef David’s handmade crab meat ravioli or Chef Bob’s handmade Chitarra pasta. I had the opportunity to have lunch at Sibling Rivalry last summer at the Stop & Shop Luncheon.

Oh yes. My sister always had to outdo me. We both twirled baton and she was the better one and always had to rub it in my face. She likes to remind me that she is married with kids and I’m not. I always just say, “Yeah, thank god!”
Growing up, I had four brothers. I didn’t experience that much sibling rivalry since I was only girl. Although with four of us, we did compete for our parents’ attention!
When we were little, my sister and I fought a ton. Now we’re definitely close. And our little bro has always been a peacemaker

Great post – thanks Melissa! Good luck everyone!
We fought to sit shotgun. That ended quickly though. We both had to sit in the backseat and if we were bad, then the trunk!

I was lucky to experience almost no sibling rivalry in my family! I only have one younger brother, and he and my dad did their sports thing, and my mom and I did our baking thing. It worked out wonderfully!

I’m doing the same giveaway! Fun! My brother and I actually made a masking tape line down the middle of the hallway and splitting the bathroom doorway to keep each other out of OUR own space! We battled over just about everything.

great giveaway! great resto.
My brother and I are so different that there was hardly ever any sibling rivalry! Quite the opposite actually… If he announced he wanted to do something (become an actor or a teacher) I immediately decided I wanted to have nothing to do with it!

As the youngest and only girl of four aka the scared goalie during soccer, there was most definitely some sibling rivalry. I always won of course. It’s probably the dimples and innocent smile.
I had a brother and sister- we used to compete over everything!
