This is the way brunch should be — cheap and boozy without sacrificing the quality of the food. On her recent trip to San Diego, A-Tooch encountered an exemplary brunch location she had to share.
I wasn’t too thrilled for the hungover, wake-up-and-pack-your-stuff hotel exit that morning so you had better believe boozy brunch wasn’t on my brain. When old college roommate, D, led us to Quality Social in the Gaslamp district to meet her friends, I figured I’d just order something greasy and sit in the corner. I was wrong.
For $10 — yes, $10 — worth of food your brunch comes with unlimited mimosas. With apparently no time restriction (what is up with that, NYC?!) It’s not too difficult to accomplish the $10 minimum per person either, though they didn’t seem to be keeping track. I’m not sure if you noticed the picture above, but the servers can’t be bothered with refilling your mimosas so your brunch table comes with an ice bucket, bottle of champagne and carafe of OJ. WOW.
I ordered the grilled sausage & waffles — smoked sausage and cornmeal-bacon waffles with maple syrup. It was exactly that, and delicious. Just about everything on the menu looked like it would hit that brunch sweet spot, except the granola, which is much to healthy for brunch IMO.
