New York City is packed with weekend brunch options and to be honest, few really stand out. How many different ways can you make eggs or pancakes? A-Tooch and friends wandered into Rocking Horse Cafe — a staple lunch/dinner spot — for Sunday funday brunch recently.
I’m not crazy about the all-you-can-drink brunches (mainly because I’m usually too hungover from the night before), but I do appreciate one decent cocktail with my meal. This frozen lime margarita was delicious and refreshing.
At $14.95 the prix fixe brunch at Rocking Horse is a solid deal, plus the food is tasty and there are some unique menu options. I got the Croque Señor — a pulled pork sandwich with roasted peppers, avocado and “inside out” cheese on top. Most of the time I go with the “br” side of brunch but the “unch” option this day was a smart choice.
A few others in our group went with the Huevos Beneditos — poached eggs on corn cakes with sautéed spinach, chipotle hollandaise and jalapeño hash browns. They all seemed pretty dang satisfied with their selection.
Overall, Rocking Horse is a reliable spot to drop in for brunch if you’re in the Chelsea area. Good ambiance and our group of six was seated immediately.

Yum! I would’ve gone with the pulled pork sandwich as well.
I just walked by this place yesterday! It seemed pretty hopping. The huevos banditos look amazing.
