Arizona Eats

It’s not exactly Paris or London…ok, it’s not even Los Angeles or Chicago…but much to the surprise of A-Tooch, Arizona has some amazing culinary offerings.

I’m well aware that Arizona may not be top on your travel list, but it should be! During my November trip we enjoyed blue, cloudless skies and temps above 80 every day. If you manage to pay the state a visit, here are two delicious spots to dine:

Scottsdale
In the fancypants town of Scottsdale are some fancypants eateries. Culinary Dropout reminds me of something you would find in NYC — casual atmosphere, good food, trendy dining. The soft pretzels and provolone fondue came highly recommended, but we skipped it after gorging on too much fast food (ahem, Sonic) on our roadtrip that day. Gross.

The small plates and AMAZING Gorgonzola Chicken Salad we settled on were perfect options. As were the 12-hour roasted tomatoes, which, at $3 for the plate were just a small fraction of what those fancypants places in NYC would charge.

Bisbee
I really have no idea why you’d end up in Bisbee, but we did. It’s about 2 hours south of Tucson, 30 minutes from the Mexico border and straight in the middle of nowhere. Oh, but it’s beautiful. And, you will eat vegan nachos that will make you forget there is no meat or dairy.

My college roommate was from Scottsdale and we went there once over spring break…I was definitely impressed by the food! Obviously it’s time I went back for a visit.
