Summer Travels: Fire Island and Rocket Fuels

Rocket Fuel. Have you heard of this? On her first visit to Fire Island, A-Tooch was introduced to the party town itself and its very potent, resident drink.

Behold: half piña colada, half mystery booze. Guaranteed good time or your money back. Actually, it should come with a refund since most places on the island charge about $15 a pop for one of these bad boys.

We tried to replicate the recipe on our own a few weeks later, and came up with something just as lethal delicious for a fraction of the price. Best tip: Bacardi 151. Which, surprisingly, tastes just like its less-strong counterpart.

Blend the following:

  • Crushed ice
  • 3 oz dark rum (Bacardi 151)
  • 4 oz pineapple juice or Dole piña colada juice
  • 2 oz cream of coconut
  • Ice
  • Amaretto, to top as a floater once the drink is blended

Bottoms up!
