Although A-Tooch and Miss Yunks represent NYC and Boston, they ventured out to Philly to explore the city’s indigenous treats for their next giveaway.
In the world of Hostess cakes, Little Debbie and Entenmann’s, Tastykake is our new fav, modern and delicious brand. Established in Philly nearly 100 years ago (whoa!), the company’s product roster includes all sorts of mouth-watering, heavenly (and perhaps best eaten sparingly) snacks including their infamous Krimpets, Pies, Koffee Kakes and (of course) cupcakes. Tastykake even partnered with one of our favorites this summer, Rita’s, to make an awesome Butterscotch Krimpets® flavored cream ice.
I became familiar with the brand when I scooped up a box of their Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Finger Cakes a year or so ago. WHOA. Moist, delicious and only 100 calories + 4 g of fiber per cake. Don’t let the “sugar free” fool you, these don’t taste like Fake-y-cakes at all.

The people at Tastykake sent us A LOT of cakes to try. Of course, in the name of being good reporters for our blog readers, we sampled them all

I grew up outside of Philadelphia and we’ve always had Tastykakes in our pantry. I don’t live there anymore (wah!) but the Kandykakes will always be my favorite (with Butterscotch Krimpets in a close second).
