TFAW had the awesome pleasure to be invited to this year’s Sun WineFest at Mohegan Sun in CT. How we missed out on this in prior years (the event just celebrated its 10th anniv!) – we have no clue.
The gargantuan event was really much more than wine. There were celebrity chefs, small food bites and tons of beer and breweries exhibiting. Oh, and liquor. A dangerous combination.

Mohegan is a convenient halfway point between Miss Yunks in Boston and A-Tooch in NYC. A great getaway for anyone in either city, really. We liked this event because you can truly ‘choose your own adventure.’ We sampled wines, stuffed our faces with good cheese, then moved upstairs to the (um, slightly more rowdy) beer floor.
But, we didn’t go out without a bang. On Sunday, we were treated to one of the most intense breakfast buffets either of us have experienced. At Seasons Buffet, breakfast is a steal at $12.50/adult, which includes eggs of any type, meat carving stations and enough pastries to open a full bakery. Or, you can create your own monster breakfast sandwich, like A-Tooch.
While the event ran from 12-5 on both Saturday and Sunday, the full three hours we spent boozing and schmoozing felt like more than enough
Note: While our entrance to the event and stay at Mohegan Sun was provided gratis, all opinions in this post are our own.
